RULE 4

The taking of fish by any other means than by rod

and line is strictly prohibited.

GENERAL RULE Nos. 5; 5A & 5B

Violation of these Rules is regarded by the

Committee as a most serious offence and offenders

render themselves liable to instant expulsion.

It is in the interest of all parties concerned that all

Rule 5 be strictly observed.

 

RULES

Objectives of the Association

  1. That the Association be called ‘Banbury and District Angling

Association’, having for its objects the protection of fish in those

waters controlled by the Association, stocking such water with

suitable fish and renting desirable waters for members’ private

fishing.

Management of the Association

  1. That the affairs be managed by a committee not exceeding 12

members, excluding a President, Vice-Presidents, two Secretaries

and a Match Secretary and Treasurer, such Committee to be

chosen at the Annual Meeting, and five shall form a quorum.

Any vacancy or vacancies occurring on the Committee to be filled

by the Candidate or Candidates next on the Ballot at the Annual

Meeting. Six senior members of the Committee to retire annually,

but are eligible for re-election. Candidates to fill vacancies on

the Committee to be proposed and seconded in writing. The

nomination paper to be signed by the proposing and seconding

members and lodged with the Secretary by the 1st of April each

year.

The committee to have power to co-opt four full Members with

a view to future Executive positions. Such co-opted Members

to have full power in Committee.

That any Member of the Committee who is absent for three

consecutive meetings without a reasonable excuse, shall be

deemed to be no longer in office.

TRUSTEES - F. Somerton, P. Upton and B. Clarke be made

Trustees of Banbury and District Angling Association and the

property of the Association be vested in them. They shall deal

with the property of the Association as directed by the resolution

of the committee and shall be indemnified against risk and expense

of the club and property.

Annual Subscriptions

  1. The annual subscription shall be £30.00; Juniors, between

12 - 18 years, O.A.P’s and Registered Disabled £10.00. Under 12

years free - must be accompanied by adult book holder. No one

to exercise any of the rights of membership till his subscription

for the current year be paid. Membership will be from the 16th

June until 15th June the following year this giving a twelve month

duration. The Committee have power to refuse the renewal of a

Member’s ticket.

Day tickets for River and Canal are available to non-members

upon payment of £3.00 or £5.00 a day.

A DAY TICKET CHARGE OF £5.00 WILL BE LEVIED

ON ALL PERSON’S FISHING WITHOUT A B.D.A.A.

FULL LICENCE OR DAY TICKET.

 

Illegal Practices, etc.

  1. That all persons are desired to give their names if

requested, to any owner, occupier, OR TO ANYONE

CONNECTED WITH THE ASSOCIATION, and to reveal

the contents of his bag, basket, or other receptacle to any

member producing his ticket and requesting him to do so.

The catching of fish by any other means than by rod/pole and

line (crayfish excepted) is strictly prohibited, and proceedings

will be taken against any persons violating this rule. No dogs

or guns to be taken when fishing.

ONE ROD ONLY MAY BE USED, BUT MEMBERS

MAY USE A SECOND ROD FOR THE PURPOSE OF

PIKE FISHING ONLY AND BAITED WITH LIVE OR

DEAD BAIT.

 

4A. TWO RODS CAN BE USED AT FARNBOROUGH

POOL FOR CARP FISHING. That both rods must be fished

at the same peg, no more than 2 metres apart, and the angler

must not cast his or her bait any more than halfway to the next

angler on either side, or otherwise stated in the B.D.A.A. rules.

Additional rods may now be used at Grimsbury Reservoir

for a further charge, see notice board at venue for details.

4B. Bloodworm is allowed on the Oxford Canal, but not

Stillwater’s.

Damage and Trespass

5. That any Member committing wilful damage to the banks

or fences of the river, or to crops adjoining, or trespassing on

mowing grass, or not fastening the gates after him which he

has opened, or depositing litter, shall be liable to expulsion.

5A. NO LUNCHEON MEAT OR SWEETCORN TINS

MAY BE TAKEN ONTO ASSOCIATION WATERS.

5B. Any angler fishing on Associated Waters, is RESPONSIBLE

for removing any litter within 5 metres of his fishing position,

irrespective of how it got there.

NO NIGHT FISHING ON STILLWATERS

 

Season for Angling

6. That the season for angling commences on the 16th day

of June, and expires on the 14th day of March except for

Stillwater’s and canals which are open all year. TROUT fishing

ends on September 12th. Pike fishing commences on 1st

October and expires on 14th March on all waters.

Contests

7. The waters specified for All Association matches will close

to members on the day of the match. For all other authorised

matches, no member will fish within 20 yards of a peg and no

official will peg within 20 yards of a member of the Association.

Transfer of Fish

8. Members transferring fish to water outside the control of

the Association will be immediately expelled.

Alteration of Rules

9. Notice of any alteration to the Rules must be received by

the Secretary no later than April 1st each year.

These rules may also be altered at a Special General Meeting

called for that purpose. Such Meeting to be called upon the

signatures of 20 full members of the Association. A Special

General Meeting may not be called to present any proposal the

same as or similar to one presented to the A.G.M.

All Propositions relating to the changing of these Rules

shall only come before the Annual Meeting providing such

Propositions are considered by the Committee to be in the best

interests of the Association.
